We’re looking for someone to write an algorithm to create hat teams that can then be integrated with the mufa.org website.
Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in donating your time and coding efforts,  and we’ll go from there. Details below.
Thanks,
Sue

-------------------------------------------------------
The (executable only) code we have now is old standalone code, so while it works, it’s clunky, requires manual uploading of results, and is not modifiable.
Since the new algorithm will be assimilated into the website by our developer, it can be written in any language initially.
If someone wants to jump on this fast, we could potentially use it for Polar Bear and Goalty in a couple weeks. Failing that unreasonable request, the first use would probably be Spring 2022.
I will create a test data set for any interested parties.

Basic requirements:
Creates coed or single gender preference teams
Allows for baggage up to 4
Creates even teams based on 3-factor rating scale (experience, athleticism, throws) from 1-7

Additional niceties:
Optional inclusion of other factors to be balanced e.g. height “tall” or “not tall”
Baggage limit overrides based on baggage password e.g. people who start their baggage password with “parents” get placed on the same (parents) team. If there are too many, it creates 2 "parents" teams.
Allows arbitrary baggage limits (rather than only up to 4)
